//

Celso Borges, represented by Promoesport, achieved an important victory with Costa Rica against Japan (1-0) in the World Cup in Qatar.

Borges, who started again, stuck out his chest to command the Costa Rican team in a life or death match. Japan were in great form after beating Germany 2-1 and a loss would have knocked Costa Rica out, but the Ticos scored a late goal to clinch the win. In addition, Borges continued to increase his personal record for the player with the most games played for Costa Rica (151).

Thanks to this victory, Costa Rica is third in the group, tied on points with Japan. A victory against the almighty Germany would certify the pass to the round of 16 for the Ticos.
