Beating precocity records is always a good signal for any footballer.
Dário Essugo, represented by
Promoesport, is breaking
Sporting CP historical registers at
16 years old. After a difficult year, in which the pandemic cut the progression of many young players, the Portuguese midfielder fulfilled two dreams: he became the
youngest footballer in the “lions” history to make his debut in the Primeira Liga, in March; and the
youngest to make it in the UEFA Champions League, last Tuesday in the game against Ajax.
His talent does not go unnoticed by the first team coaching staff. At his short age, he is already playing for
Sporting CP B, in the
Terceira Liga, although he is also disputing the
UEFA Youth League with the U19 squad. He is a powerful midfielder, able to win the ball and with a great talent to distribute and filter vertical passes to break defensive lines.
After beating those historical club marks, he has another record to break yet:
overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo as the youngest player to ever score for Sporting CP. The Manchester United footballer has made it at 17 years and 8 months old. Even though it seems more difficult because of the role he has, Dário Essugo’s limit is unknown.
