Federico Girotti becomes Argentinian champion with River Plate

//

River Plate raised their thirty seventh Liga Profesional of Argentina title up yesterday, after the 4-0 win over Racing Club de Avellaneda. They are the club with the most Argentinian championships, followed by Boca Juniors, with 34. Since Marcelo ‘Muñeco’ Gallardo’s arrival, seven and a half years ago, the ‘millonarios’ have taken 13 olympic laps to the Monumental stadium celebrating titles. Apart from the triumphs on the field, the coach has also discovered some big talents, such as Federico Girotti, represented by Promoesport.

Girotti, 22 years old, has developed in the club’s academy and has not taken long until he started to stand out, being one of the top scorers in all the categories, and make it regularly to the first team call-ups. He got his debut in 2019 and in 2020 the club offered him a new contract, acknowledging his huge potential and the interest he was already generating on many European teams.

This season he has participated in the Liga Profesional and in the biggest club competition of the continent, the Copa Libertadores. His physicality –he is 1,90m tall and his nickname is ‘El Tanque’– is one of his main virtues. He has a very good heading and great definition with both feet, besides a great goalscoring instinct. With no doubt, he is one of the best Argentinian prospects, who already has an Argentinian Liga Profesional on his account.
