Pervis Estupiñán ends his Champions League campaign with his head held high

//

The team where Promoesport representative Pervis Estupiñán plays, Villarreal, yesterday was very close to surprise Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals at the Estadio de La Cerámica, but the match ended 2-3 in favour of the English team. The Yellow Submarine were unable to beat the English side, as they did last season when they won the Europa League against Manchester United.

The team from Castelló played a very good first half where they took the lead and even scored a second goal to make it 2-0 at half-time. Pervis was key for the "groguets" to impose themselves in the first minutes, as his cross from the left flank originated the play of the first goal. The Ecuadorian full-back has now finished the Champions League with 10 matches played at a very high level and has earned a name among the best full-backs of the tournament.

In addition, the young player born in Esmeraldas has managed to equal the historical record of the legendary former Manchester United player, Antonio Valencia, who until now was the only Ecuadorian to have played in a Champions League semi-final.
