Iván Villar makes history with RC Celta

//

Iván Villar, player represented by Promoesport, manages to keep a clean sheet for 430 minutes with Celta Vigo.

The Spanish goalkeeper, the undisputed starter after Marchesín's serious injury, has managed to beat a record in the Celtic team after 18 years. The unbeaten record was set by Pinto and Rubén Blanco at 385 minutes with a clean sheet, which was snatched by Iván Villar last Saturday. The performances of the Celtic goalkeeper have caused the Carvalhal team's aspirations to rise.

The last goal Villar conceded, and thus the one that started his record, was on 18 February against Real Sociedad. Mikel Oyarzabal beat the keeper in the fifth minute to put the Donostiarras ahead. José Gragera, an RCD Espanyol player, put an end to Iván Villar's record last matchday when he scored in the 86’ minute.

After that goal, the Celeste goalkeeper's record now stands at 430 minutes with a clean sheet. Only Cavallero is the only one to better Iván Cuellar's record of 586 minutes of clean sheets in the 2002/03 season.
