Mario Suarez's Rayo Vallecano will play the final for promotion to Primera División

//

Rayo Vallecano will play the final for promotion to the Primera División after beating Leganés 1-2 at Butarque in the second leg of the playoff semi-finals, having also won the first leg 3-0.

Iraola's side went in at half-time behind after an early goal in the eleventh minute. However, they were able to turn the situation around and ended up beating the 'pepinero' team 1-2.

The Vallecas team were without their usual goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski, who is away on international duty with his national team, North Macedonia, for the last friendly against Kazakhstan before the start of the European Championship. For his part, Mario Suárez will try to achieve his second promotion to the First Division in his entire career: he already achieved it in the 2006-2007 season in the ranks of Real Valladolid and hopes to do it now with Rayo.

With an aggregate score of 5-1, the Rayo side will face Girona, who have just beaten Almería in the semi-finals, on Sunday 13 June to secure their place in the top flight of Spanish football.
